How to Enhance Your Memory - Five Methods Help You Remember

I wish I had a photographic memory. It would be awesome to remember everything I ever learned from the time I was a child. I could have breezed through college and graduated "Magna Cum Laude" I could have won at "Jeopardy, Baby" or at least been spared the social blunders of trivial pursuit. Well if you are anything like me, then having a great memory is a talent that needs a little miracle work.

Workout your mind with these five methods to help you remember:

1. Repeat it Three Times.
This is a very effective method for remembering names, memorizing phone numbers, poems, quotes or bible verses. When you meet someone new repeat their name several times to yourself and in immediate conversation. This will help you associate a face with a name and remember them the next time you see them. To memorize a poem, use this tactic and break up longer sentences into sections to be repeated over and over. Then as you master one part continue by adding an additional section to be repeated in sequence.

2. Visual Association
A common method to remember an item is to visually associate it with something that may trigger your memory. Let us say your spouse or girlfriend rattles off a list of things she needs at the drug store and you are going to remember everything without writing it down. One way is to associate an image of a room in the house with each item on the list. So, they want garbage bags and you visualize the pile of trash in your garage. She needs toilet paper and you visualize the bathroom. This visual association is what will help you focus on the items.

3. Brain Games
Use it or lose it. You can improve your memory by challenging your brain whenever you can. Play simple memory games with yourself, family or friends. Take the time to read interesting periodicals or novels. When you are killing time by reading a newspaper why not try answering the daily crossword puzzle.

4. Memory Exercise
A great place to look for memory exercises is on the internet with a little effort you will find many sites which offer memory games. Popular board games such as "Mastermind" and "Brain Twister" are good examples of fun exercises you can play to help improve memory and logic skills.

5. Healthy Food and Diet
If you want to improve memory you need to promote a healthy brain. There are a lot of protein rich foods that will work wonders to keep your brain strong. Foods to nourish and develop the brain include fish, peanuts, milk, and meat.
